Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Saturday 7 June 2008

The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

Around 11:00 a.m. an IED exploded in Ur neighborhood in east Baghdad. No casualties were reported.

Three civilians were injured when a magnetic bomb attached to a pick up truck of a defense ministry employee detonated. The incident took place in al Faris al Arabi intersection in Mansour neighborhood in west Baghdad around 1:00 p.m.

A civilian was killed and two others were wounded in a parked car bomb in al Nisoor intersection in Yarmouk neighborhood in west Baghdad around 2:00 p.m.

Three civilians were killed and 15 others were injured in a parked car bomb near the ministry of industry in Nidhal Street in downtown Baghdad around 3:00 p.m.

- Police found 4 dead bodies in Baghdad: 2 were found in Risafa bank ; 1 in Ubeidi and 1 in Khilani. While 2 were found in Karkh bank; 1 in Dora and 1 in Tobchi.

Kirkuk

- Police found a dead body for a kid who was kidnapped yesterday in Qadir Karam town(southeast Kirkuk).

Mosul

- American forces raided Baaj area in Mosul .They killed three gunmen who were involved in killing 11 recruiters for police two weeks ago.

- Police suspected a man at Baaj area near one of their checkpoints when he didn’t stop for checking .He was wearing an explosive belt .Police opened fire on him and the explosives in his body killed him at once.

- The governor’s convoy in Mosul had been attacked by gunmen during a tour in Zanjili (west of Mosul).No casualties reported, but some damages to the vehicles.

Anbar

A policeman was killed and 6 people injured, including four policemen, when a female suicide bomber walked up to al Bobali police station in Khalidiyah area west of Baghdad and detonated. Security forces killed one man and arrested another while they were planting bombs in al Liheb area west of Baghdad around 6:00 a.m.
