Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Wednesday 13 August 2008

The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

An American soldier and his Iraqi interpreter were killed by an IED that targeted their vehicle in Ghazaliyah neighborhood in northwest Baghdad around 10:00 am. US military issued a press release confirming the incident.

Police found two unidentified bodies throughout Baghdad. One body was found near Kindi Hospital in downtown Baghdad and the other was found in Saidiyah neighborhood in south Baghdad.

Around 9:30 p.m. a roadside bomb exploded near Sayd al Haleeb stores (Milk Master Stores) in Mansour neighborhood in west Baghdad killing one civilian.

Around 9:30 p.m. gunmen opened fire targeting a police patrol in Aden intersection in Kadhemiyah neighborhood in north Baghdad injuring one policeman.

Nineveh

Two civilians were killed and seven others were wounded in a parked car bomb in al Qayara town south of Mosul city on Wednesday morning.

Two civilians were injured by a bomb in al Zainjili area in west Mosul city on Wednesday morning.

Two Iraqi soldiers were killed and 16 people including six security members were injured when a suicide bomb targeted a joint checkpoint in west Mosul city on Wednesday morning.

Kirkuk

The district commissioner of al Multaqa district abdul Kareem Ali Nasif and three of his guards were wounded by a suicide car bomb that targeted the convoy of Nasif while he was going to his office district in al Multaqa district west of Kirkuk early morning.

Diyala

Around 5:30 p.m. a roadside bomb exploded near al Eta village southwest of Baquba city killing one woman and inuring two others. The three women were in their way to their farm when the bomb exploded.

Two national police members were killed and six others were wounded by an IED that targeted the national police members while conducting a raid in Buhruz town south of Baquba city around 10:20 p.m.
