Baghdad
A Katyusha rocket hit the Green Zone at 9.p.m. Thursday. No casualties were reported. The Iraqi Security Forces were able, with the support of U.S. Forces to pinpoint the location from which the rocket was fired in Zafaraniyah, southern Baghdad, cordon off the neighbourhood to find two more rockets ready to be launched that they detonated under control.
A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. military convoy near al Obaidi Mosque in al Obaidi neighbourhood eastern Baghdad at 9 a.m. Friday damaging one Hummer vehicle.
Nineveh
A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol in al Zinjili neighbourhood, downtown Mosul at 8 a.m. Friday injuring three soldiers and damaging one of the military vehicles.
Salahuddin
Candidate for the Iraqia secular list, Hussein al Shatb survived an assassination attempt by gunmen in al Mutasim district, to the southeast of the city of Samara, Thursday.
Babil
Haithem Kathim al Husseini, head of the Local Council in Mahaweel district, Babil Province and candidate for the provincial councils' elections for the State of Law Alliance headed by PM al Maliki was assassinated by gunmen driving a speeding car in Ajrash, 25 km to the north of Babil City, Friday. The attack also left four of his security detail seriously injured.
