The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A car bomb driven by a suicide bomber targeted a conference for national reconciliation held in Abu Ghraib area and attended by tribal sheikhs and notables at 1.15 p.m. Tuesday. The explosion killed 33 people including two correspondents from al Baghdadiyah satellite channel and injured 46 others including one correspondent from al Iraqiya satellite channel, and the toll is expected to rise, Iraqi police said.

One roadside bomb and three sticky bombs exploded in a 20 minute span within a 50 meter circle around U.S. and Iraqi troops in Hurriyah neighbourhood in northwest Baghdad at 8 p.m. and another roadside bomb was successfully destroyed. In all, 10 civilians were injured.

Nineveh

A car bomb, parked in front of the local government building in Hamdaniyah district, 30 km to the east of Mosul at 1.45 p.m. Tuesday exploded killing two civilians, one of whom is the son of the Head of the local Judicial Council and the other a doctor and injuring six people including one policeman.

Gunmen raided a house in al Thawra neighbourhood, western Mosul, inhabited by a woman who works in Mosul University, Department of Computer Science, and shot her dead at around 10 a.m.

Gunmen threw a hand grenade at a wedding celebration in al Rasheed neighbourhood, western Mosul late Monday, injuring 12 people including women and children.

A six year old girl was killed while playing with a hand grenade outside her home in Sheikh Fethi neighbourhood, western Mosul.

Basra

Spokeswoman for the British Forces said one civilian, a Pakistan national working for one of the companies based at the airport complex was killed by a Katyusha rocket fired at the base Monday.
