This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.
Baghdad
- Around 9 p.m. a roadside bomb detonated at a coffee shop in Abu Dsheer neighborhood in southern Baghdad on Sunday. Three people were killed and twelve others were wounded.
- Around 9:10 p.m. a roadside bomb detonated near a coffee shop in Karrada neighborhood in downtown Baghdad on Sunday. Five people were wounded.
- Around 9:30 p.m. two roadside bombs detonated in sequence in Ghadeer of the New Baghdad neighborhood in eastern Baghdad on Sunday. No casualties reported.
Diyala
Iraqi Police found four unidentified bodies in Muqdadiyah, 30 km to the northeast of Baquba Sunday morning.
Basra
One Coalition soldier was killed during armed confrontations in Basra, Saturday. The U.S. military confirmed the report.
Salahuddin
Iraqi police found a body in the Tigris River in Hwaish area around 7 km to the north of the city of Samarra Sunday afternoon. It was the body of a man in his thirties, the police said. His hands were bound and he had been shot several times in the head and chest.
Nineveh
Iraqi Police found an unidentified body in a deserted building in Shurta neighbourhood, northern Mosul on Sunday. The victim, a man in his thirties, had been shot several times, and the body had started to decay.
A parked car bomb targeted a police patrol in Dawasa Kharij neighbourhood, a secluded area in central Mosul, not a hundred meters from the Directorate of Nineveh Police and also close to where Atheel al Nijaifi, the newly elected Governor lives. The explosion claimed the life of one police officer and injured four others.
Gunmen in a speeding car opened fire and killed an Iraqi officer who works in the guard force at Dadoosh Prison. The attack took place in University neighbourhood in northern Mosul.
