The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau

Baghdad

A magnetic bomb stuck to a civilian car detonated in Ma'moun neighbourhood in west Baghdad, Saturday afternoon, injuring one military serviceman in plainclothes and one civilian.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Bayaa neighbourhood, southwestern Baghdad at 7 p.m. Saturday injuring three young men.

Anbar

A suicide bomber driving a truck bomb detonated on the highway bridge in Tway area, 45 km to the west of Fallujah, bringing down a section of the bridge and blocking the highway that is the main route to Jordan and Syria. The explosion took place at 5 a.m. Saturday and wounded one civilian.

A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi military truck carrying Iraqi soldiers near Fallujah petrol station at 10 a.m. Saturday, killing four soldiers and injuring another 10.

Nineveh

Gunmen attacked a checkpoint manned by police in Maidan neighbourhood, central Mosul at noon, Saturday. The confrontations resulted in one policeman killed and two civilians injured.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Rajm Hadeed neighbourhood in western Mosul, Saturday evening killing one policeman and injuring two civilians.

Gunmen shot and killed a civilian near his home in Amil neighbourhood, southwestern Mosul, Saturday evening.

Salahuddin

The Deputy Chief of police of the city of Samarra survived an assassination attempt when gunmen in two cars opened fire at him in al Qalaa area, Friday evening. Samarra police were able to capture all six gunmen, and they turned out to be policemen in the Samarra police force. The investigation is ongoing, said Iraqi police.

Kirkuk

Insurgents threw a hand grenade at an Iraqi army patrol in Hawijah district in the south of Kirkuk province, at 11.30 a.m. Saturday, killing two soldiers and injuring two civilians.
