The daily violence report is compiled by McClatchy Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to the McClatchy Washington Baghdad Bureau.

Baghdad

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to a civilian car, detonated in Waziriyah, north Baghdad, at 6 p.m. Sunday, seriously injuring the driver.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to a governmental car, detonated, at 8 p.m. Saturday, seriously injuring two people who were inside it.

Armed men assassinated Maysem Chikeer, member of the Baghdad Provincial Council as he was getting out of his car, in front of his home in Harthiyah neighbourhood, central Baghdad, at 11.30 p.m. Saturday.

Nineveh

Armed men opened fire upon a federal police checkpoint in Zinjilly neighbourhood, west Mosul, Sunday, killing two policemen.

An armed man threw a home made bomb at an Iraqi foot patrol conducting a raid and search operation in Tel Afar district, west Mosul, Sunday, killing one soldier.

A suicide bomber, wearing a suicide vest was detected by a police patrol in Tel al Shaeer village, southwest Mosul, Sunday. The police chased him and cornered him, keeping their distance, when he detonated injuring one policeman.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the private car of an Iraqi army officer, detonated in Wadi Hajar neighbourhood, south Mosul, Sunday, Killing the officer.

Armed men opened fire at a police checkpoint in Tel al Rumman, west Mosul, early Saturday, killing two policemen.

Anbar

Small fuel containers filled with TNT explosive material that were left beside the outer wall of a major in Fallujah police force's home, detonated, Sunday causing material damages only. It is not clear whether it was the police officer who was being targeted or a member of Iraqiya bloc (the bloc that won the most seats in the March elections), Samiha al Muhammadawi, who lives two doors down the street.
