The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the private car of an engineer, detonated in Kathimiyah neighbourhood, at 10 a.m. Monday, killing him, and injuring three civilian passers by.

Two mortar rounds slammed into the Green Zone late Sunday. No casualties were reported.

Armed men in a speeding car opened fire upon a checkpoint manned by both police and army servicemen, late Sunday, killing one soldier.

Nineveh

Armed men threw home made bombs and detonated a booby-trapped push-cart in Korniche Street, targeting a police checkpoint in central Mosul, Sunday. The explosions injured 1o civilians and one policeman.

Armed men shot and killed two young men - brothers, as they were returning home from a friend's house, in al Zira'ineighbourhood, west Mosul, Monday. A friend of theirs, who was walking with them was seriously injured.

Armed men opened fire at a police checkpoint in Qayara district, south Mosul, late Saturday, killing two policemen and injuring another.

Anbar

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol near a mosque in central Fallujah, at 11.15 p.m. Monday. The vehicle sustained a direct hit and was destroyed and all five policemen inside it were critically injured.
