Paris Hilton, spoofed by McCain, responds with her own ad

David Lightman - McClatchy Newspapers

August 06, 2008 01:19 AM

Paris Hilton has spoken, all about John McCain, or as she puts it, the "wrinkly white-haired guy."

She responded late Tuesday on the "Funny or Die" Web site to the presumptive Republican nominee, who last week used her in an ad comparing her celebrity to that of Democrat Barack Obama.

The ad begins with images of the Golden Girls and Larry King.

Then the celebutante tells everyone, "I'm Paris Hilton and I'm a celebrity, too. Only I'm not from the olden days and I'm not promising change like that other guy. I'm just hot."

She says all this from a lounge chair at a pool, clad in a bathing suit reading a magazine. She goes on to compare the McCain and Obama energy programs, and proposes a compromise, and promises a run for president herself.

Because McCain used her in the ad, she explains, "I guess (that) means I'm running for president. So thanks for the endorsement, white-haired dude. I want America to know that I'm, like, totally ready to lead."

And she says goodbye by saying she has to go pick a vice president and pledges to "see you at the debates."

McCain's campaign responded Tuesday with its own tongue-in-cheek comment. McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds told the Associated Press that Hilton apparently supports McCain's energy ideas.

"Paris Hilton might not be as big a celebrity as Barack Obama, but she obviously has a better energy plan," Bounds said.

Wednesday, the Obama campaign responded. Said spokesman Bill Burton: "No response."
