If the Democrats are as unified as the donkeys on Pennsylvania superdelegate Ruth C. Rudy’s one-of-a-kind hat, their odds might be good in November.
The hat that Rudy, a Centre Hall resident and retired state legislator, has been sporting at the Democratic National Convention in Denver caught the eye of a Smithsonian museum curator.
“Since it was chosen for the Smithsonian last night, I don’t think I’m going to wear it anymore,” Rudy said jokingly of the rather weighty hat.
It is one of several unique headpieces she has worn at Democratic conventions since 1992 and the second to earn a space in the Smithsonian Institution collection of political memorabilia.
