SarahPAC helper mistakenly said Palin would headline GOP dinner

Sean Cockerham - The Anchorage Daily News

March 18, 2009 06:31 AM

Gov. Sarah Palin's political action committee, SarahPAC, mistakenly confirmed Palin would headline a Washington, D.C., fundraiser for congressional Republicans in June.

Palin never saw the invitation and hasn't decided, the spokeswoman for SarahPAC said Tuesday.

"Someone helping me out on the East Coast ... in the enthusiasm of Sarah Palin and the enthusiasm of providing some sort of response confirmed that the governor was coming, and that wasn't appropriate because the governor didn't even know of the invitation," said Meg Stapleton, SarahPAC spokeswoman.

Stapleton said Palin first learned of the invitation when the National Republican Senatorial Committee sent out a press release Monday announcing Palin as keynote speaker for the Senate-House dinner in Washington, D.C.

The announcement made national news.
