Found: Gov. Sanford at Haley victory party, kissing ex-wife

John O'Connor - The State

June 23, 2010 03:39 PM

Gov. Mark Sanford Tuesday interrupted reporters interviewing his ex-wife, Jenny, to give her a kiss on the cheek while the two were attending Republican gubernatorial nominee Nikki Haley’s victory party at the S.C. State Museum. Jenny Sanford quickly walked away after the smooch.

Gov. Sanford gave credit to Haley alone for her win, though Haley thanked him in her victory speech for encouraging her to run.

Sanford said he intentionally stayed out of the race after disappearing last year and later admitting an extramarital affair.

"This year was a rough year for me in case you missed it,” he said. “I didn’t want to be involved in someone's campaign."
