A Fayette District Court judge has rescheduled a hearing for a former volunteer with Rand Paul's Senate campaign who is accused of stepping on a liberal activist at a U.S. Senate candidate debate.
The pretrial hearing for Tim Profitt, 53, of Bourbon County was scheduled for Tuesday but was continued to Jan. 11. Profitt has pleaded not guilty to a charge of fourth-degree assault for stepping on the shoulder and neck of Lauren Valle, a MoveOn.org activist who was trying to get close to Republican candidate Rand Paul to present him with a mock award at the October debate.
Jennifer True, an assistant county attorney, said the hearing was rescheduled to "gather further discovery."
