ROCK HILL -- U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, a tea party favorite known for her outspoken style and conservative views, will visit Rock Hill Friday to kick off a swing through South Carolina.
Bachmann will headline a York County GOP barbecue dinner at 6 p.m. at the Baxter Hood Center.
The Minnesota Republican has not said whether she will seek the GOP presidential nomination in 2012, but the South Carolina visit follows a similar trip to Iowa last month.
Bachmann will speak Saturday at a Republican women’s luncheon in Columbia and attend a fundraiser for the Spartanburg County Republican Party later in the evening.
Now in her third term, Bachmann has emerged as a key figure in the tea party movement. She opened the recent Conservative Political Action Conference by accusing President Obama of allowing “socialism under his watch.”
