Illinois became the 16th state in the country to abolish the death penalty on Wednesday and Gov. Pat Quinn commuted the sentence of the 15 residents of the state's death row.
But what that means for Christopher Coleman, who is set to go on trial next month for the strangulation murders of his wife and children, is unclear.
Quinn walked out of the news conference announcing the abolition of the death just as a reporter asked the question about pending cases without delivering an answer.
