WASHINGTON — Republican Rep. Doc Hastings of Washington state is undergoing treatment for diverticulitis at a Tri-Cities hospital and will miss work this week because he's unable to travel to Washington, D.C., his office announced Monday.
Hastings, 70, the chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, checked into the hospital early Sunday morning. His treatment is expected to last several more days, but a spokeswoman said that Hastings is in good spirits and will return to work as soon as it's medically advisable.
