Americans have soured on incumbent members of Congress.
Pew Research Center reports a "record share of voters who want most members of Congress defeated" next year.
About three-fourths want most members of Congress to lose. In 2006 and 2010, both years when control of the House of Representatives changed hands, no more than 57 percent felt that way.
Individual incumbents don't fare much better. 38 percent don't want their own representative re-elected--"as high as it has been in two decades," Pew said. The November 2009 figure was 29 percent, and the September 2005 number was 25 percent.
In addition, Pew said, people see the Democratic party more favorably than Republicans--47 percent are favorable toward Democrats, compared to 38 percent of Republicans.
