In advance of President Barack Obama's remarks on health care, Speaker John Boehner's office is weighing in with concerns and questions.
Republicans, including Boehner, R-Ohio, have been adamant that the Affordable Care Act be repealed, defunded or diluted.
In that spirit, Brendan Buck, Boehner's spokesman, posed these questions Monday:
"Why did the White House ever suggest that problems with the (health care exchange) website were due to volume? We now know that’s not the case. Were they misleading the public or just so clueless that they didn’t know why the system was malfunctioning?
Buck also maintained "a speech doesn’t solve the problem. If the president is prepared to admit this program isn’t 'working the way it’s supposed to,' will he consider removing the tax penalty associated with the individual mandate? Does the president think Americans should be taxed for not buying a product from a website that doesn’t work – and may not for some time?
"Finally, Americans deserve real answers for this debacle. That's why Secretary Sebelius' refusal to testify in the House this week is so unacceptable. Will the president will order the Secretary to appear at Thursday's hearing and explain why this enormous investment of taxpayer dollars has been such a train wreck?"
