The House of Representatives will be getting a new top administrative officer, as Dan Strodel will retire at the end of the year.
Speaker John Boehner made the announcement Monday. Strodel, who had been tapped by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat, in 2010, will end a 28 year congressional career.
"Dan Strodel has served the Congress exceedingly well throughout a long and distinguished career," Boehner said in a statement. He pointed out how Strodel has "helped members of Congress do more with less in recent years, while weathering a series of significant cuts to House budgets."
Boehner's office said a successor would be named soon, and a House vote to elect the Speaker's nominee would occur in January, at the opening of the next session of Congress.
The office is responsible for administering House operating budgets, financial management, procurement, payroll and benefits, information technology, food services, office equipment and furnishings, cyber security, and broadcast services.
