The nuclear option's impact has been delayed a day.
The Senate was supposed to vote late Monday on the nomination of Patricia Ann Millett as an appellate judge, but the vote was postponed until Tuesday due to weather.
Millett, nominated by President Barack Obama in June to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, would be the first judge confirmed since Democrats invoked the so-called option last month. The rules changed so that it now takes 51 votes to cut off debate on certain presidential nominees, rather than 60.
Republicans howled, but Democrats insisted they've been unfair holding up nominations for ideological reasons.
Millett was an assistant to the solicitor general in the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations. She has argued 32 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.
