President Barack Obama, who is on a family vacation in Hawaii, has signed up for health insurance through an Affordable Care Act exchange, selecting a bronze-tiered plan on the D.C. marketplace, the White House said Monday.
Obama signed up for coverage over the weekend during the start of his holiday vacation as part of what the White House called a “symbolic” act to promote the Affordable Care Act, his signature domestic achievement.
Obama's health care will continue to be provided by the military, according to a statement.
"He was pleased to participate in a plan as a show of support for these marketplaces which are providing quality, affordable health care options to more than a million people," a White House official said.
