The start of the new year brings another multimillion-dollar TV ad buy from the conservative group Americans for Prosperity attacking Democrats for supporting the new health care law. The 30-second TV spots started on Tuesday.
They target Sens. Kay Hagan of North Carolina (see more about that ad here), Jean Shaheen of New Hampshire and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana. All three are up for re-election this year. AFP reports the latest ads cost $2.5 million.
Each ad criticizes one of the three senators for saying in the past, as President Obama did, that people could keep their health insurance if they liked it. (The group's press release and the three ads are here).
AFP said it spent more than $16 million during the fall on TV ads that criticized politicians who supported the Affordable Care Act or thanked those who opposed it.
