The White House is restaffing its political arm as the Office of Political Strategy and Outreach and has named longtime Obama aide, David Simas, as director.
The move comes amid Democratic complaints that the White House wasn’t doing enough to help them in the midterms, says Politico, which first reported the move.
It says Simas will start next week and eventually direct a staff of five to seven people, "working closely with deputy chief of staff Alyssa Mastromonaco and senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer."
Obama also named Broderick Johnson as assistant to the president and Cabinet secretary; Amy Brundage, as deputy assistant to the president and deputy communications director; Anne Wall, deputy assistant to the president for legislative affairs & Senate liaison and Amy Rosenbaum as deputy assistant to the president for legislative affairs "The American people will be greatly served by the talent and dedication that David, Broderick, Amy, Anne and Amy bring to their new roles," Obama said. "I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead as we continue to move our country forward.”
