The crisis over Ukraine is apparently turning into a sanctions war between Russia and the United States.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is poised to slap sanctions on key members of the U.S. Congress in retaliation for President Barack Obama imposing sanctions against some Russian officials in response to Russian troops marching into Crimea, according to a report by The Daily Beast.
Putin is expected to announce the move as early as Tuesday, The Daily Beast reported. Senate Majority Whip Richard Durbin, R-Il, is reportedly on top of Putin's list, something that he said is a badge of honor. Durbin co-authored a resolution condemning Russia's invasion of Crimea.
'My Lithuanian-born mother would be proud her son made Vladimir Putin's American enemies list," Durbin said in a statement.
Obama announced Monday that seven Russian officials and four Ukrainian officials would be barred from traveling or holding assets in the U.S.
