Reid blasts GOP and its 'billionaire sugar daddies'

By David Lightman - McClatchy Washington Bureau

April 28, 2014 02:55 PM

Congress is back and Harry Reid is fuming about Republicans.

The Senate Majority Leader opened the Senate’s first session in more than two weeks with a blast at the GOP.

The Nevada Democrat attacked the Republicans’ fierce opposition to the Affordable Care Act, saying, “It’s obvious their strategy attacking Obamacare has proven to be a miserable failure.”

He ripped into the Koch Brothers, Wichita businessmen who are generous Republican-friendly advocates and contributors.”Being the target of a couple of rich billionaires is not going to intimidate me,” Reid said.

And he tore into House of Representatives Republicans for not moving quickly on overhauling the nation’s immigration laws.

“House Republicans prefer to talk about anything but what is relevant. Why?” Reid asked. “Because their billionaire sugar daddies aren’t interested in helping Americans.”

There’s been no response yet from Senate Republicans.
