House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, accused President Barack Obama of committing political ‘sabotage’ when he issued an executive order to halt deportations for nearly 5 million undocumented immigrants.
‘With this action, the president has chosen to deliberately sabotage any chance of enacting bipartisan reforms that he claims to seek,’ Boehner said Friday. ‘And, as I told the president yesterday, he’s damaging the presidency itself.’
Boehner repeated congressional Republican vows to respond to Obama’s executive order but he wasn’t specific about what type of action they would take.
‘In the days ahead, the People’s House will rise to this challenge,’ Boehner said. ‘We will not stand idle as the president undermines the rule of law in our country and place lives at risk. We’ll listen to the American people, we’ll work with our members, and we will work to protect the Constitution of the United States.’
