New pro-Cruz PAC: “Make DC Listen”

By Maria Recio - McClatchy Washington Bureau

April 16, 2015 03:56 PM

Sen. Ted Cruz’s, R-Texas, state director has left his post to run a political action committee that supports Cruz, “Make DC Listen.”

John Drogin embraced one of Cruz’s signature stump speech lines, “Make DC listen,” in naming the PAC, which will support Cruz’s presidential campaign as well as other conservative non-presidential candidates.

Drogin was Cruz’s campaign manager in 2012 when the little-known Cruz won a come-from-behind race to beat then-Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst for the Senate. Drogin was earlier a press aide to Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.

“Americans are worried about the federal government’s crippling effect on jobs and opportunity,” said Drogin, the PAC’s Executive Director. “We want to get the government out of the way so Americans can prosper, but DC isn’t listening. This PAC will empower the grassroots to turn our country around by donating directly to candidates who will fight for less government and more freedom.”

“Make DC Listen” is not formed as a so-called SuperPac, which has no limits on individual contributions, but is a traditional PAC, with caps on contributions.

“Make DC Listen will start by supporting Ted Cruz for President because he's a proven conservative, has strong grassroots support, and will stand up to the Washington establishment. Nobody will do more to make DC listen than Ted Cruz,” said Drogin. “Our goal is to raise grassroots contributions for his campaign so he has the resources to get his message out and win.”
