Latinos gather here tonight for “Latino Talks,” a celebration of leadership that is non-partisan but sponsored by a some pretty high profile Democrats: Eva Longoria and Henry Muñoz.
The Latino Victory Foundation, which Longoria, a well-known actress and Democratic activist and Muñoz, a Texas businessman who is the Democratic National Committee’s finance chairman, co-founded a year ago, is hosting the event. It promotes Latino issues and encourages Latino candidates at local, state and national level.
At the celebration at The Hamilton Live, part of a restaurant complex in downtown Washington, a featured speaker is Julian Castro, the secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department, who is a Democrat. Longoria and Muñoz are also among the speakers who will discuss, according to a release “the progress the Latino community has made and the challenges that lay ahead.”
“The event is also a celebration of the organization’s first year in existence, during which Latino Victory helped to spotlight new Latino leaders, empower Latino voters and advocate for the issues Latino families care about most,” said the release.
