There are bumper stickers, coffee mugs and sweatshirts. And, oh yeah, the pantsuit T-shirt.
Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign launched its online store Monday morning with the usual fare but there are many items tailored made for the candidate who is trying once again to become the first female president:
There’s a throw pillow that says “A Woman’s Place is in the White House,” shirts that echo one of Clinton’s most famous speeches - “women’s rights are human rights are women’s rights” - and a glass made from 100 percent shattered glass ceiling. Get it?
The store launched at 7 a.m. with only American-made merchandise, according to a campaign aide. The models aren’t real models but rather campaign staffers and their families.
The campaign says more products will continue to be available throughout the campaign and will change with the seasons.
For ideas, staffers might take a lesson from Ready for Hillary, the political action committee that helped lay the groundwork for the campaign, that once offered a store with aluminum ornaments adorned with a giant H for Christmas, champagne flutes engraved with 2016 for New Year’s Eve and long-sleeved I love Hillary T-shirts with red hearts for Valentine’s Day. The store closed once the official came opend.
The campaign hopes supporters show their support by posting pictures of themselves in their new gear through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or other social media. It is using the hashtag #Hillary2016.
