The Baltimore home of Rep. Elijah Cummings, the ranking Democrat on the House Benghazi Committee, caught fire Tuesday.
"I was in a Transportation Committee hearing when I learned about the fire at my house in Baltimore," Cummings, D-Md., said in a statement. "The fire started on the third floor of the house and the Fire Department is investigating the cause. Thankfully, no one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries."
The Baltimore Sun reported that firefighters responded to the blaze at the three-story home around 10:42 a.m. and had it under control by 11 a.m. Cummings remained in Washington for votes Tuesday afternoon.
