Jones was one of five House members from North Carolina to oppose the omnibus spending bill, brokered at the last minute to avoid a government shutdown just before the holidays. N.C. Republican Reps. George Holding, Mark Meadows, Mark Walker and Richard Hudson were also opposed.

The House passed the budget deal in a 316-113 vote. The Senate passed the bill in a 65-33 vote, with Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., voting against it and Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., voting in support.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story gave, in a headline, the wrong number of members of North Carolina's congressional delegation who voted against the omnibus bill. Five representatives and one senator voted against the bill Friday.
