A motorist pulling a trailer with several hanged effigies, including one resembling President Obama, was stopped Wednesday evening on Interstate 85 in Rowan County, the N.C. Highway Patrol says.
Sgt. Jeff Gordon, a spokesman for the Highway Patrol, says troopers stopped the driver near the Peeler Road interchange, about 5 miles south of Salisbury. It happened about 6 p.m.
“Our troopers made a traffic stop because they felt the driver was impeding the flow of traffic,” Gordon said. “On an interstate highway, that probably would mean the driver was going too slow.”
Gordon said the driver was warned and then released.
Video shot by a passing motorist showed the man was pulling an open trailer with several figures hanging. Gordon said troopers noted “there were some type of mannequins on the trailer, but the reason for the traffic stop was the impeding of traffic.”
