Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are up. Rand Paul is down. And Jeb Bush is a “fragile front-runner.”
So says the National Journal’s latest 2016 Republican presidiential rankings. Bush, the former Florida governor, remains on top.
But, the analysis says, “He is not, however, pulling away from the pack. In fact, the pack is getting both closer and bigger,.”
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is tied with Rubio as runner-up. “Walker has sustained a series of self-inflicted wounds that call his readiness into question,” the report says.
And he’s got Rubio on his heels. “Rubio's early campaign events— including a well-received swing through New Hampshire last weekend—have highlighted speaking skills that are unparalleled in this cycle,” says the analysis of the U.S. senator from Florida’s campaign.
Cruz, the U.S. senator from Texas, is fourth. His late March announcement at Liberty University “couldn’t have gone any better,” the report says. Paul, a U.S. senator from Kentucky, has been “uneven,” the Journal says.
