Chris Christie’s poll numbers are down. So he’s blaming his home state’s pollster.
The Monmouth University poll, a respected nonpartisan organization, earlier this week was the latest to find the New Jersey governor’s campaigning well behind in New Hampshire. It had Christie eighth in New Hampshire, state he’s counting heavily on, with 4 percent, in line with other surveys.
Forget that, Christie said, according to NJ.com.
“First of all, it’s a Monmouth University poll, so you guys should know by now that the Monmouth University polls (are) created just to aggravate me. Just look at Patrick Murray and his tweets, there couldn’t be a less objective pollster about Chris Christie in America,” Christie said.
“The guy’s an advocate, he’s a liberal advocate, so I’ve never paid attention to the Monmouth poll in New Jersey,” Christie insisted.
“And by the way, it’s the Monmouth University poll, anybody really care? You think nationally people are on the edge of their seat waiting for the Monmouth University poll to come out? I mean, please, stop.”
He didn’t stop there. “I mean, there are polls and there are polls, guys, and part of the problem is that no one exercises any quality control over what you should listen to and not listen to, and that’s why I’ve said all along, I don’t really care about that stuff.”
The top 10 plus ties will qualify to participate in next week’s Republican debate.Christie is averaging 3 percent, good for ninth, in an average compiled by RealClearPolitics.
