Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton released a new TV ad Wednesday that will appear in the early nominating states of Iowa and New Hampshire.
In the new 30-second ad, Clinton notes that American CEOs earn 300 times the salary of the typical worker and vows to “reshuffle” the deck on behalf of everyday Americans.
She invokes her own family's story -- and how her mother, despite never attending college herself, was able to see her daughter graduate from law school -- and says she wants to build an economy that rewards hard-working Americans "so being middle class means something again."
The ad features Clinton speaking direct-to-camera, interspersed with archival photos of Clinton's family and footage of her interacting with workers at their jobsites.
“We need to have people believing that their work will be rewarded. So I'm going to do everything I can to get that deck reshuffled,” she says.
The ad is part of a five-week, $1 million ad buy in each state in addition to digital advertising. In New Hampshire, the ads will run statewide. In Iowa, the ads will air in the state’s two largest media markets – Des Moines and Cedar Rapids.
They are designed to counter $34 million in air time that has been spent or reserved in the four early states - Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada - by Republican presidential candidates and their supporting super political action committees.
She previously released two 60-second positive biographical ads – “Dorothy” and “Family Strong”– that portrayed Clinton as a ‘fighter’ for families.
