Hillary Clinton is a “dishonest career flip-flopper” with an “above-the-law mentality,” Republican Chairman Reince Priebus told the party’s governing body Wednesday, as he laid out the GOP’s attack lines on the presumptive Democratic nominee.
There are rumblings as Republicans gather for their national convention next week that presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump could face a challenge from dissident delegates. But John Ryder, Republican Party legal counsel, said delegates who are bound to a candidate must vote that way.
Priebus urged using Clinton as a rallying point.
“If we don’t stick together as a party and stop her,” he told the Republican National Committee‘s summer meeting, “then the only alternative is to get comfortable with the phrase ‘President Hillary Clinton.’ ”
Others picked up the beat. “Just because she says she’s pro-women . . . that doesn’t make it the truth,” said Sharon Day, RNC co-chairman. “Crooked Hillary is not worthy of the highest office in this land.”
Priebus sent the members away with some choice attack lines.
“The country can’t afford a dishonest career flip-flopper who is chomping at the bit to rubber stamp more of the extreme Obama agenda.”
The Clinton machine is on the warpath against Donald Trump because they’re desperate to hide all the flaws in her own candidacy.
Republican Chairman Reince Priebus
Look out, he said. “She will stack the Supreme Court with another activist, liberal judge who will treat the Constitution like a doormat.”
Remember how she once praised the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the pending trade pact between the United States and 11 Pacific Rim nations? “Now she can’t run away from it fast enough,” Priebus said.
Then there’s the emails. “When the head of the FBI tells the whole world that Hillary Clinton is a liar in the way she handled precious national security secrets,” he said, “that alone should disqualify her from the White House.”
FBI Director James Comey last week recommended Clinton not be charged in connection with her use of a private email server while secretary of state but called the handling of the matter by her aides and her “extremely careless.”
And so, Priebus said, the RNC is “holding her feet to the fire every day for her above-the-law mentality.”
He pledged the party is “monitoring her every public event and digging through decades of documents to hold her accountable for her track record of cover-ups and dishonesty.”
