Eric Greitens wants to protect Second Amendment rights of Missourians and proved it by firing a Gatling-style machine gun in a campaign ad.
Greitens, Republican gubernatorial candidate in the state, served four overseas tours in the Navy, including time in Iraq and Afghanistan. In a new ad posted this week, he continuously fires the machine gun as a narrator promises Greitens is a “conservative warrior” who will prevent “Obama’s Democratic machine” from “steal[ing] another election.”
“When he fights back, he brings out the big guns,” the ad says, as empty casings pour from the gun onto the ground and bullets fly over a lake.
Greitens said he was raised a Democrat and thought about running for Congress as a member of that party in 2010. He also attended the Democratic National Convention in 2008, but said his military service made him “a conservative, not by birth but by conviction.”
“Big Guns” isn’t Greitens’ first campaign ad featuring his firearm skills. Earlier this year, he promised to “take dead aim at politics as usual” as he shoots into a field that erupts into a fireball.
Greitens won the Missouri primary and will face Democratic candidate Chris Koster, currently Missouri attorney general, in November’s election.
