Declaring that America is “at a moment of reckoning,” Hillary Clinton accepted her party’s presidential nomination, and cast herself as the dedicated public servant and tested leader who is best equipped to best equipped to help bring the country together so it can solve its problems of economic and national security.
“America is once again at a moment of reckoning,” Clinton said. “Powerful forces are threatening to pull us apart. Bonds of trust and respect are fraying. And just as with our founders there are no guarantees. It’s truly is up to us. We have to decide whether we’re going to work together so we can all rise together.”
In a nearly hour-long speech, she spoke about family – childhood, motherhood and about being a grandmother. She spoke about breaking down barriers, in her own career and on behalf of others, and taking on social and moral issues. She spoke also about the Iran nuclear deal, her strategy for dealing with the Islamic State, and her vast slate of policy papers.
She also delivered a withering assessment of Donald Trump, describing him as a man “who loses his cool at the slightest provocation.”
“A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons,” she said.

▪ Father of a fallen Muslim American soldier offers to lend Trump his copy of the Constitution. “Donald Trump, you're asking Americans to trust you with their future. Let me ask you, have you even read the United States Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy,” he said, removing a pocket Constitution from his suit jacket, to roaring applause in the arena. “In this document, look for the words, look for the words ‘liberty’ and ‘equal protection of law.’ Go look at the graves of brave patriots who died defending the United States of America. You'll see all faiths, genders and ethnicities. You have sacrificed nothing and no one.”
