State Department reviews 15,000 previously undisclosed Clinton emails
A Federal District Court judge ordered the State Department to expedite its review of nearly 15,000 new emails uncovered by the F.B.I.’s investigation of Hillary Clinton’s personal email account. While most of the original 55,000 pages of work-related emails have already been released, the several thousand new emails come from the accounts of people Clinton was in communication with during her time at the State Department and from the F.B.I.’s examination of her old server.
Brian Fallon, the Clinton campaign’s spokesperson said that Clinton had provided all the work emails “in her possession” when the State Department asked in 2014.
James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director said he didn’t believe the emails had been “intentionally deleted,” but previously characterized Clinton’s handling of the material as “extremely careless.”
Colin Powell rejects claim he inspired Clinton’s private server
Hillary Clinton reportedly told the F.B.I. former Secretary of State Colin Powell recommended she use a private email server, according to the New York Times. On Saturday, Colin Powell denied he had anything to do with the matter.
He suggested “her people have been trying to pin it on me” to deflect criticism. Clinton was “using [the private email server] for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did,” he added.
Did Trump just flip-flop on immigration?
Donald Trump promised to be “fair, but firm” on immigration Monday, after previous pledges to forcibly deport 11 million immigrants living in the United States.
When asked if his plan still included mandatory deportation, his new campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, said the plan was “to be determined.”
The Republican nominee is now delaying an immigration speech previously set for later in the week.
Donald Trump prepares for general election debates
The Times is reporting that Trump has begun prep work for the first general election debate. One of his principle advisors: Former Fox News chairman Roger Ailes, who helped George Bush debate Michael Dukakis in 1988.
