We know you can't compare weather to climate.
That's comparing a rain squall to an ice age. One is a local phenomenon that can change from one minute to the next, while the other can affect the entire planet for eons.
We know that no one is claiming the Earth is getting uniformly warmer over its entire surface and all at once, like a roast in the oven.
When the experts talk about climate change, they're talking about long-term global averages and predicting widespread, profound effects from small changes in the big picture.
But even knowing all that, it's hard not to sympathize with the global warming skeptics who count the shiver factor as a significant data set.
It's hard not to, with the forsythia telling us it's Tri-City cooling vs. global warming these days, and cooling is winning.
