Dear Mr. President,
I'm writing about our governor's saying he won't accept that stimulating money unless he can use it to pay off state debt.
Please, Mr. President, pay no mind to Cousin Mark.
We got the second worst unemployment in the country; folks are losing their homes; and many can't afford health insurance. We're hurting down here.
We ain't actually kin to the governor, but in the South, if you say someone's your cousin, you don't have to apologize for speaking frankly about him.
To tell the truth, Mr. President, Cousin Mark ain't right.
In medical terms, his elevator don't reach the top floor.
Do you know, one year he vetoed bills that would have helped autistic children, replaced worn-out school buses and kept toddlers from riding ATVs?
Last year, he killed a bill to raise the state cigarette tax from 7 cents a pack – lowest in the country – because the money would pay for health insurance for poor folks instead of giving another tax break to fat cats.
