If Gov. Mark Sanford wants to earn an honest buck for a change, I have a proposition: If he will go halfsies, I'll create a poster of him using a photo from Thursday's press conference. The caption? "Be Careful What You Pray For."
The photograph won't be one that appeared on 1A of The Herald on Friday. Instead, I'll use one from the back page, showing Sanford before a flock of reporters.
Hoopla over whether the governor will accept federal stimulus money plays to his primary goal: Keeping Mark Sanford in the national spotlight, no matter the damage to constituents nor how stupid he makes South Carolina appear.
Several letters published recently in The Herald have abused the newspaper or this columnist for criticizing Sanford's position on federal stimulus money; some went so far as to brand us "liberals."
If lambasting Sanford makes one a liberal, then we media belong to a big fraternity.
